Balvenie grew up amongst the high elves of Greyhawk atop a snowy peak. He was raised to be a priest, yet was never fully accepted in his community due to his half-human nature. His devotion to Auril comes from his belief in the power of winter. He has seen villages crushed under the power of the winter storm. His early friend was a wizard who turned evil and killed Balvenie's brother. He has an inherent distrust of wizards and does not like to make new friends, believing that most will disappoint. His actions flow from a sense of purpose and conviction. He is rarely convinced to change a belief. Strong-headed and opinionated, he can often offend those with sensitive sensibilities. He doesn't care.
He carries a pipe and a flask of whisky wherever he travels. His holy symbol is a six-pointed snowflake. He wears the symbol around his neck and it is emblazoned on his shield.
I've enjoyed fine food, drink, and high society among my temple’s elite. Rough living grates on me. I demand comfort and distrust the poors. We have a duty to obey the gods and enact the change they are working in this world. I am deeply devoted to my faith, willing to die before violating any part of it. I am inflexible in my thinking. I inherently distrust Wizards. I rarely accept a stranger as a friend.
